　　This is not a dry and dreary field, where progress is glacial and where new ideas atrophy from neglect. 嗯！ field 可以理解为领域， neglect是忽略的意思。 像 dreary 和 atrophy from 是没有见过的词汇。This is a dry field. 这不是一个干燥的领域。 dreary field 又是什么领域。

　　embrace/ɪmˈbreɪs/  verb. 1.Formal = accept= to accept something enthusiastically. 欣然接受，乐意采纳；This was an opportunity that he would embrace.这样的机会他是求之不得的。2. =hold = to hold someone tightly with both arms to express love, liking, or sympathy, or when greeting or leaving someone. 抱， 拥抱： She saw them embrace on the station platform. 他看到他们在站台上拥抱。 He leaned over to embrace the child. 他弯腰去拥抱那个孩子。3.  embrace = include= to include something,  often as one of a number of things. 包括，包含： Linguistics embraces a diverse range of subjects such as phonetics and stylistics.  语言学包括一系列不同的科目，如语音学和文体学。
