windows - Trigger Windows Service execution?

Question

I have a working scheduled Windows service which makes an HTTP request to a REST API every hour. Apart from the periodic execution the client needs to execute that task when he needs to.

The only way I know is by adding a disc monitoring and firing the task on execute.me file added. Is it possible to execute a windows service using a more elegant solution?
