问题描述

I'm using the ARCore recording & playback feature on Android. I'm wondering if the accuracy of ARCore is lower during a playback session (where frames have been encoded then decoded) relative to a live session (where frames are consumed without encoding/decoding)?

My reasoning behind this question: The camera image frames are encoded in the resulting MP4 using H.264, which is a lossy encoding. Generally, lossy video encoding can result in blurry frames relative to the quality of the frames originally input to the encoder. Depth from motion and structure from motion algorithms can be sensitive to blurry inputs. A live session presumably consumes frames without any encoding/decoding. So I'm wondering if the lossy encoding (and extra runtime taken for decoding as another factor) impacts the accuracy of depth or other feature detection algorithms in ARCore?
